一緒に世界に挑戦しましょう
SAMURAI FOTO is an organization which has been established for the purpose of widely recognizing Japanese photographers around the world as being high quality artworks. To achieve the purpose, we have been working hard to make artworks for the photo exhibitions and have deepened exchanges with the world since 2012. We also bring up photographers who can be active internationally. Furthermore, we have joined a lot of activities in foreign countries aggressively such as photo festivals and photo auctions. We have got photo reviews as well. We have made a big achievement.
Our next goal is to build a cultural bridge between people in the world through the art photographs. As civilization and science have developed, the world has become convenient. People can travel easily and a speed of information communication gets faster remarkably. However, there are still many problems in this chaotic world. We have no clue how to solve them so far. What we need is to respect other people and understand other cultures. We believe that the art photography will fulfil the important role as a means of deepening links between people around the world.
Our group is still small though, we believe the expressive power of art photo. We respect each photographer’s individuality and work hard day by day. By connecting with people in the world, we try to contribute to create a global well-being. If you are interested in fine art photography, why don’t you join us and share it with the world? SAMURAI FOTOは、日本の写真がアート作品としてより高く、広く認識されることを目的に設立されたクラブです。私たちはその目的を達成するため、2012年より作品の発表や世界との交流、作家の育成を行なうとともに、海外のフォトレビューやフォトフェスティバル、フォトオークションなどに積極的に参加し、多くの実績を上げてきました。
そして、私たちは次なるステップとしてアート写真を通して世界の人々と文化の架け橋をつくっていくことを目指しています。文明、科学が発達した現在、人々の移動や情報の伝達は目を見張るほど早くなり便利な世の中になりました。しかし、世界では今も多くの問題を抱えており、解決の糸口さえも見えない混沌とした時代でもあります。おそらく私たち人類は他人への尊重やお互いの文化に対する共感、すなわち世界の人たちとの精神の交流がまだ足りないのかもしれません。私たちはその交流を深めるための手段としてアートフォトが重要な役割をしてくれると思っています。
SAMURAI FOTOはまだ小さな存在ですが、アートフォトが持つ表現力を信じ、作家ひとり一人の個性を尊重しながら世界の人々と繋がっていくことで、幸福な社会の構築に少しでも貢献できればと日々活動しています。そんな私たちと「一緒に世界へ挑戦したい、ファインアートプリントを学びたい」という方々の入会を心よりお待ちしております。

Aiming for the world contribution with photographs
「写真で世界に貢献する」ことを目指して
SAMURAI FOTO has a workshop every month. We invite experts of fine art and photographers who are active internationally. With them, we learn and talk about fine art photography. We have joined aggressively major photo exhibitions and got portfolio reviews in foreign countries such as Arles and Huston. Our activities help members of SAMURAI FOTO in order to gain world recognition as a photographer. Little by little, our activities show successful results. Some of the members were invited to International Photo Festival and introduced in foreign media. Also, they attended a photo exhibition in overseas museum and some of their art works were purchased. When we are in foreign countries, we have tried to develop relationships with very important people such as curators of Photo museum in the U.S, organizers of International Photo Festival and many famous Photographic Artists. We are doing various photographic activities, and joining an auction in the museum in the U.S was a great success. We are proud that our proceeds of the auction became some help for the museum activities. Repairing corrupted pictures is also one of our activities. The social contribution activities like these are SAMURAI FOTO’s final goal. As the title says, we aim for the world contribution with photographs. We will stay active so that many Japanese photographers can have a worldwide reputation for their art works.
私たちSAMURAI FOTOでは、それぞれの作品発表とともに、世界で活躍するPhotographic Artistやファインアートのエキスパートを招いた毎月の勉強会を行なっています。アルルやヒューストンなどの海外の大規模なポートフォリオレビューにも積極的に参加してきました。これらは参加メンバーが世界的に認められる写真作家となれることを目指した活動です。 そんななかで、国際写真フェスティバルへの招待や海外メディアでの紹介、海外の美術館での写真展参加、さらには作品購入がされるという成果が着々と上がってきました。それらは海外へ飛び出すことによって、アメリカの写真美術館館長や国際写真フェスティバルのオーガナイザー、海外の著名なPhotographic Artistたちとの交流が築けたことによるものでしょう。 さまざまな交流の中には、アメリカの写真美術館でのオークション参加によって美術館の活動の一助としていただいたことや、被災した写真の修復活動などもあります。これらの社会貢献活動はSAMURAI FOTOの最終目標ともいえるものです。 「写真で世界に貢献する」ことを目指して、今後もひとりでも多くの日本の写真作家が世界で活躍できるようにより多くの皆さんとともに活動していきたいと思っています。

SAMURAI FOTOでは「写真作品を通した国際交流」を目標に日々活動していますが、私たちと一緒に世界へ挑戦する写真作家を募集しています。アート写真作りを始めたい人から、海外フォトレビューへの参加や世界のギャラリーやフェスティバルへの出展を実現したい方まで幅広く募集しています。これらを個人で実現しようとすると大変な時間とネットワーク、ノウハウ、語学力が必要です。但しクラブ員同士で力を合わせれば、私たちの文化を世界へ向けて発信できる日本で唯一の写真作家集団として貴重な存在となります。また個人の作家としても世界との関係をつくるきっかけになれば良いと願っています。
